I.L.A. Ladies Auxiliary Number Eleven of Local #1416

The International longshoremen's Association ladies Auxiliary Number Eleven of local #1416, Miami Florida was charted August 20, 1936 under the Presidency of Mr. Judge Henderson.

In September 1987 two wives, Mrs. Gwendolyn W. Pittman and Mrs. Inell H. Hunter* volunteered to preside as Liaisons to activate the Charter. The Auxiliary (non-profit) consisting of wives (or representative) of the longshoremen was organized to coordinate and assist in numerous ILA Projects. (*deceased).

The Most important annual and prestige missions are: Prepare and donate Holiday Baskets to the local's Disable; Supervise Scholarships Donations and Awards for the Union dependents; Attend and represent the Union, at Banquets, Formal and Social Functions that are held within the community that the Union Officers and Members are unable to attend.

The Auxiliary insignia is the Anchor (anchor jewelry pin or other anchor accessories are usually worn by the ladies), which represents their potential as they serve the Union with "Stability and Endurance".
